Study in Canada from India: The Complete 2026 Guide

CanadaVisaGuide

Canada is the most popular study-abroad destination for Indian students — and for good reason. Affordable tuition, a clear PR pathway, and some of the world’s best universities make it hard to beat.

Here’s everything you need to know if you’re planning to study in Canada in 2026.

Why Indian students choose Canada

  • Tuition is 30–40% lower than the US for comparable programs
  • Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) gives you up to 3 years of work experience after graduation
  • Express Entry PR pathway — many international students get permanent residency within 2 years of graduating
  • Student Direct Stream (SDS) offers faster visa processing for Indian applicants
  • Large Indian community across Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, and beyond

Top universities for Indian students

The most popular choices among our students:

  • University of Toronto — consistently ranked #1 in Canada
  • University of British Columbia (UBC) — strong in engineering and sciences
  • McGill University — top research university in Montreal
  • University of Waterloo — the #1 choice for co-op programs
  • McMaster University — excellent for health sciences
  • University of Alberta — strong in AI and machine learning

How much does it cost?

  3. IELTS score of 6.0 or higher in each band
  4. Proof of tuition payment for the first year
  5. Medical exam

After graduation: the PR pathway

Canada’s PR pathway for international students is one of the most accessible in the world:
